About DHS

A healthcare technology company across Munich, Nairobi, and Kampala.

DH Solutions Africa was registered in Munich in 2021 and now has around forty people across three offices. DHS builds hospital and clinic platforms, patient access flows, AI-supported clinical workflows, and custom systems for healthcare organisations across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Where the work happens

Three offices covering different parts of the same work.

DHS kept engineering and clinical delivery inside the same company rather than splitting them between a European vendor and a local integrator. Most projects involve people from all three offices, with engineering led from Munich and delivery led from Nairobi or Kampala depending on the geography.

Headquarters

Munich

Germany · DE

The Munich office runs engineering, product, design, and security. The team of around twenty people writes the platform code, operates the infrastructure, and maintains the quality standards that hospitals and partners expect from European software vendors.

Engineering
East Africa delivery

Nairobi

Kenya · KE

The Nairobi office handles implementation, training, and partner work for clinics, hospitals, and programmes across Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and the wider East African region. A team of around ten people manages on-site rollouts and ongoing support.

Delivery
Regional office

Kampala

Uganda · UG

The Kampala office handles development, on-the-ground deployments, and long-running partner relationships. The team of around eight people works with community health programmes, hospitals, and NGOs across Uganda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Partnership
How the team is made up

Engineers, clinicians, and implementers across one team.

The team is roughly half engineering and product, a quarter clinical and operational, and a quarter implementation and training. DHS hires across all three areas in Munich, Nairobi, and Kampala under one company structure.

Engineering and product

Munich, with engineers also in Nairobi and Kampala.

The engineering team covers backend, frontend, mobile, and infrastructure, all hosted inside the EU on GDPR-aligned infrastructure. Many team members came through TUM, the Munich startup scene, or product teams at other European healthcare companies.

Clinical and operational

Munich, Nairobi, and Kampala.

Two of the founders ran clinics in East Africa before DHS, and a practising physician sits in on every product review. Nurses and reception staff from partner clinics test workflows in real settings before they ship.

Implementation and training

Nairobi and Kampala.

The implementation team handles rollouts, staff training, and on-call support. A typical project starts with a one to two week setting visit and stages a deployment over eight to twelve weeks, with DHS staff on site through the first week of live operation.

Who we work alongside

A small group of long-standing partners.

DHS grew out of research and operational connections at TUM in Munich and Makerere University in Kampala. Most of the partners listed below have worked alongside the company since the early years, each within their own scope.

The chip next to each partner indicates how the relationship works. Academic relationships sit around research and student programmes, programme partners share project work, and healthcare partners run live operations we connect to.

DHS also works directly with ministries of health and regional authorities in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda on specific programmes, with those relationships described in detail during initial conversations.

How we work

Three principles that shape every system we build.

These principles guide how we design and ship across hospitals, clinics, NGO programmes, and partner builds. They apply at every scale, from a single clinic to a multi-site rollout.

01

Built around how patients reach care

Most patients in the markets we work with reach care through WhatsApp, USSD, SMS, phone, or a walk-in. We design our systems for those entry points and the realities behind them.

02

European engineering standards

Our code, infrastructure, and data handling follow the same standards European hospitals expect from their software vendors. GDPR-aligned, FHIR-compatible where it helps, with a full audit log.

03

AI under clinician review

Our AI structures intake, drafts summaries, and suggests routing. A clinician approves every output that touches a patient record, and every call is logged with model, input, output, and reviewer.
